@Ron: Tyson's filing was a 10K, not a Q. I've heard about Tofurkey before and tried to eat one once, but wasn't quite that brave.

@Jo: Sounds pretty idyllic. Good for you for supporting local farmers.

I get all my poultry, organic and free-range, from the nearest Whole Foods store, or the even closer local natural foods store.

I get my beef from my girlfriend who lives in the country and raises a few head of beef catttle every year. She also gives me bits of liver from the elk her granddaughter shoots on her property. Life is good in rural Oregon.

Not sure how you get from a 10-Q to chicken feet....but I probably wouldn't have minded waiting until after "turkey day" to read your blog.

By the way, did you hear about "tofurkey" (tofu turkey)? The guy on the radio said that whoever makes them sold 300,000 last year. I probably don't want to know how they're made either!

Oh, and I agree with Frank -- don't "dis" the turkey!

Actually, Kumara's favorite treat is raw chicken feet. He gets one at noon pretty much on the dot. But I buy them from a local organic farm up the road -- wouldn't dream of giving my dog factory-farmed chicken feet!

Prob exporting a lot of chicken feet and parts to China. Supposedly our chicken feet are more plump and meaty than theirs? Think that was part of a trade war spat.
Feet are a big deal there as is dark meat favored over white meat. Opposites attract I guess. After all wedding dress norm there is black not white.
As aside I caught one of those DNA shows on TV where guy showed how chickens are tail end of dinosaur time. He speced that could alter a couple genes and grow bigger chickens even with some dino parts like a big tail and beaks. Yummy exports.
Didn't include the dumbo turkeys, our almost national boid. Happy Eats.
